1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Privacy Notebook ("PNote", "the app", "our app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Privacy Notebook is a mobile application for Android devices that provides:

  • Encrypted note-taking functionality
  • Individual password protection for each note
  • Local, offline data storage
  • AES-256 encryption for note contents
  • Material Design 3 user interface

The app is designed to be completely offline and does not require an internet connection for core functionality.

3. License and Usage Rights

3.1 License Grant

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Privacy Notebook for personal, non-commercial purposes on your Android device.

3.2 Restrictions

You agree NOT to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
  • Modify, adapt, or create derivative works of the app
  • Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
  • Use the app for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Distribute, sell, lease, or sublicense the app
  • Attempt to bypass security features or encryption

4. User Responsibilities

4.1 Password Management

  • You are solely responsible for remembering your note passwords
  • We cannot recover forgotten passwords due to encryption
  • Lost passwords may result in permanent loss of note contents
  • You should maintain secure backups if needed (manually)

4.2 Content Responsibility

  • You are responsible for all content you create in the app
  • You must not use the app to store illegal content
  • You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations

4.3 Device Security

  • You are responsible for securing your device
  • We are not liable for unauthorized access to your device
  • We recommend using device lock screens and security features

5. Data and Privacy

5.1 Local Storage

All note data is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your notes, passwords, or any personal content stored in the app.

5.2 Data Loss

  • Uninstalling the app will permanently delete all notes
  • We do not provide cloud backup services
  • We are not responsible for data loss due to device failure, user error, or app uninstallation

5.3 Privacy Policy

Your use of the app is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

6. Intellectual Property

Privacy Notebook, including all software, design, text, graphics, and other content, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Security or accuracy of data storage

While we strive to provide a secure and reliable service, we do not guarantee that the app will be completely secure or free from bugs or viruses.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to your device
  • Damages from forgotten passwords or encryption keys
  • Any damages exceeding the amount you paid for the app (currently free)

9. Updates and Modifications

9.1 App Updates

  • We may release updates to improve functionality and security
  • Updates may be automatic or require manual installation
  • We recommend keeping the app updated to the latest version

9.2 Terms Modifications

  • We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time
  • Material changes will be notified through app updates
  • Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance

10. Termination

10.1 By You

You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it from your device.

10.2 By Us

We reserve the right to:

  • Discontinue the app at any time
  • Modify or remove features
  • Terminate support for certain devices or OS versions

11. Third-Party Services

The app uses Facebook Analytics SDK for anonymous usage statistics. Your use of this functionality is subject to Facebook's terms of service and privacy policy.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

12.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.

12.2 Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the app should first be attempted to be resolved through good faith negotiations. If resolution is not possible, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in accordance with applicable consumer protection laws.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the use of the app and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
